Making Habits

Well, I already missed one day.  Oops?  I am going to pretend the only reason I didn't post is because it was a holiday and I didn't have any fun sexy workout or anything.  I DID do all five of my requirements (water, meditation, sleep, 15 minute activity, and a post or comment in the facebook group).  I barely made it to the 7 hours today though thanks to the long weekend.  I think I love sleep too much?  Without fail give me three days in a row I'm allowed to sleep in and my schedule gets all kinds of jacked up.  It kept raining yesterday and was ridiculously humid so I didn't run, but I did do 15 minutes of calisthenics.  Yay for pushups.  I also went to lunch with Michael and it was much much easier to drink my 90 oz of water, because while he ate chips and drank a margarita, I inhaled water to dampen the longing.

Bringing it back old school

Ok, I'm only kind of bringing it back. I used to use this blog for race training, general whining, etc. I have obviously let it go by the wayside while I focused on other things like getting my law practice started up. Unfortunately, along with letting this blog go I let myself go as well, which is why I find myself on Day One of the Take Shape for Life Healthy Holiday Challenge. I have been getting healthy with Medifast and my health coach Lydia Wente for a few months now, but I have the new brilliant idea that if I do this competition and let my Type A, uber-competitive personality take over, I can be done with the brutal calorie deficits in eight weeks and go into maintenance. I am also going to try running again and I am scheduled for a 5k on October 14. Therefore, I am going to use this blog as follows:
1) to complain about everything I want to and not make all my friends hate me for it;
2) keep track of my point activities so that my health coach does not get sick of me;
3) try to get back in the habit of blogging in the hopes I transition from this more mindless drivel into actively blogging about law again and helping promote my business.
Wish me luck!

POINTS FOR SUNDAY
YES • 1 pt/day for spending at least 5-10 minutes in uninterrupted quiet time
(I *WILL* learn to meditate if it kills me)
YES • 1 pt/day for drinking at least 90-100 oz of water
(or rather, I am at 72 and will be at 90 by the end of the night. This is way harder than I thought it would be)
YES 1 pt/day for getting at least 7 hours of sleep.
 (very easy to do when you went out drinking with friends the night before and slept in until 11am...probably not what the health coach had in mind but it technically meets the criteria!)
YES 1 pt/day for participating in at least 15 minutes of a healthy activity
(yes I went running and it was painful and embarassing, but I did intervals today)
 YES 1 pt/day for Journaling.
 (logged in Fitday and posted here)
YES 1 pt/day for commenting or posting in your regular client Facebook group.
 (it was not a very insightful comment but I *did* comment and I think I will enjoy doing that more)

Weight lost to date: 0 (it's day one, okay?!)

So over rain

I'm so done with rain preventing me from doing my long runs. Since it's nasty out on the days i have the time to run for two hours, and nice out on the days I don't, I have been doing my 3.55 mile run and working on getting faster. I have managed to drop about 15 more seconds off my pace. Yes I am still going slow, but I am not longer over heating and getting ill about a mile in which means I am finally adjusting to running in warm weather. Yay! Now if I could just get my long run in this weekend as sort of a mental exercise to prove I can go the full 10 miles, I will be set.

Im Bad!

I haven't been updating properly. My blisters are finally getting smaller, but talk about a lesson learned! Always make sure your shoes fit properly and don't wear ones that don't even for just one run! I did a 2 mile run Monday and a 3.5 mile run Wednesday where I tried to pick up the speed a little bit. I have a long run this weekend and I think if I may finally be able to do the 10 under a 14 minute mile. My speed is still slow but it's not "walkers move faster than I do after mile 5" slow anymore.

Boo!

Blogspot ate my post! Long story short - 7 miles on Sunday/1 hour 35 minutes. Still too slow. Can defin. run for 2 hours 20 minutes cardio wise, it's the legs and pace that are the problem. Hip is hurt, no run til Wednesday to let it rest.

3 mile monday

Well I tried to run this weekend after eating out - bad idea. Very bad idea. Today though I had a three mile run. I ran for 43 minutes and according to google pedometers it was 3.3 miles, meaning I'm running about a 13 minute mile. Thats not good but it's under the 14 minute mile I'm required to make for the 10 miler.

I need to start logging more miles though, my legs are still not as strong as I would like.

Oh injuries

So the sprinting thing I did last blog? Not the best idea. I strained my right quad and it decided it didn't want to support a lot of weight. I tried on Sunday and failed and wound up doing machines at the gym.

Well, I finally ran last night after resting said leg for a few days. Only a short 1.25 miles but I worked on speeding it up at the end and tried to keep a decent pace. Hopefully I will make it through a long run this weekend.
